UNSOLD! Six-time World Cup winner Alyssa Healy finds no takers in WPL 2026 mega auction

Six-time World Cup winner Alyssa Healy stunned fans after going unsold at the 2026 Women’s Premier League mega auction. Despite his experience and champion background, franchises chose not to bid, making him the biggest shocker of the major round.

Australia captain Alyssa Healy went unsold at the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 Auction in New Delhi on Thursday, failing to attract interest from bidders in both the major and accelerated rounds. Healy was the first player to be auctioned off in the opening tent set but did not receive a single bid. His ongoing battle with injuries appears to have significantly impacted franchises’ decisions; because teams are hesitant to invest funds early and secure a position overseas for a player whose near-term availability is in doubt.

This caution was further underlined when the 35-year-old again failed to attract interest in expedited auctions later in the day.

Currently, Healy is participating in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) with the Sydney Sixers but has had a tough time with the bat, scoring just 65 runs in four innings so far. He missed the last WPL season due to a recurring foot injury sustained during the T20 World Cup in the UAE last year. He captained UP Warriorz in the first two matches of the league.

Healy scored a total of 428 runs in 17 WPL matches; His unbeaten 96 from 61 balls against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the inaugural season was the joint second-highest individual score in the tournament’s history.

On the international stage, Healy remains a key player in Australia’s successful era, being part of six T20 World Cup winning teams and two ODI World Cup victories. Most recently, he led Australia to the semi-finals of the 2025 ODI World Cup, where they lost to eventual champions India.
