US, Ukraine, Russia officials to hold trilateral meeting in UAE: Zelenskyy at Davos

Speaking at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Zelenskyy said that the two-day meeting will be held on Friday and Saturday.
The announcement came as US President Donald Trump met with Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the WEF in Davos on Thursday. Trump said he had a good meeting with the Ukrainian President, but noted that there was still “some way to go” to end Russia’s war in Ukraine.
“The war must end,” Trump said after the meeting. “We hope this will end. Too many people are being killed.”
“This is an ongoing process,” Trump added. “Everyone wants the war to end.”
Zelenskyy also described the meeting as “positive” and added that there was “enough” to be said about it.
He said the “final stage” of negotiations was “very difficult”. “During dialogue with any president, I have to defend my country’s interests. So the dialogue is perhaps not simple,” he said. “But it was today. It was positive.”
While US envoy Steve Witkoff said negotiations to end Russia’s war “come down to one issue,” a European official confirmed it was about territory, according to CNN.
Zelenskyy’s remarks, meanwhile, followed his WEF speech in which he criticized European leaders for what he described as inaction on the war in Ukraine and drew a comparison with Europe’s response to Greenland in recent days.
Trump also touched on developments regarding Greenland, saying negotiations now give the United States “full access” for defense. The report stated that Trump had previously announced that a framework for an agreement on Greenland had been created, but ignored military force and new tariffs against European countries that oppose his ambitions.
Previously, Trump announced the “Peace Board” with less than 20 countries attending the signing ceremony. Although Trump criticized the UN, he said he wanted the body tasked with rebuilding Gaza and resolving global conflicts to work with the United Nations.
Trump also called Gaza a “beautiful piece of property” while talking about rebuilding the war-torn strip.
