US, Arab nations slam Tehran’s drone, missiles strikes in West Asia after US-Israel joint military action on Iran

Washington DC: The United States and six Arab countries issued a strongly worded statement on Monday condemning Iran’s latest missile and drone attacks in West Asia, calling them “indiscriminate”, “reckless” and a dangerous escalation that threatens regional stability.

The statement, issued by the governments of the United States, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, followed a wave of Iranian attacks that targeted multiple countries in the region and came as a retaliatory action by the Islamic Republic following the US-Israeli strikes on Iran that led to the deaths of the country’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his family.

“The United States, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates strongly condemn the Islamic Republic of Iran’s indiscriminate and reckless missile and drone attacks against sovereign territories in the region, including Bahrain, Iraq – including the Kurdistan Region of Iraq – Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. These unjustified attacks targeted sovereign territory, endangered civilian populations, and damaged civilian infrastructure.” The statement was read.

“The actions of the Islamic Republic represent a dangerous escalation that violates the sovereignty of multiple states and threatens regional stability. Targeting civilians and non-hostile countries is reckless and destabilizing behavior,” the statement added.

The seven governments reaffirmed what they described as the inherent right of self-defense under international law and underlined their unity in protecting their citizens and territorial integrity.

“We stand together to defend our citizens, our sovereignty and our lands,” the statement said.
The signatories also praised effective air and missile defense coordination, which they said prevented significantly more loss of life and destruction. “We remain committed to regional security and appreciate the effective air and missile defense cooperation that prevented much further loss of life and destruction.”

The admission underscores increased security cooperation between the United States and Gulf states and regional partners as tensions rise and threats from Tehran’s missile and drone capabilities increase.
