US death toll update as CENTCOM confirms more servicemen killed in Iran strikes | World | News

Six US soldiers were “killed in action” in Iran’s attacks, Central Command (CENTCOM) released a new update. The announcement was made on CENTCOM’s official X page.

The letter said: “As of 4 p.m. on March 2, six U.S. soldiers have been killed in action. U.S. forces recently recovered the remains of two previously unnamed soldiers from a facility hit during Iran’s initial strikes in the region. Major combat operations continue. Identities of those killed are withheld until 24 hours after notification to next of kin.”

Monday’s announcement came on the third day of U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran; this attack had already killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and triggered retaliatory attacks by Iran in various parts of the Middle East.

The military said that under standard next-of-kin procedures, it would not release the names of dead soldiers until at least 24 hours after their families were notified.

The statement came as the president Donald Trump He warned that additional U.S. casualties were likely after first confirming that three American soldiers had been killed in Kuwait during the escalating conflict with Iran.

Subsequent updates from US Central Command showed that the death toll had risen, with one of the wounded later dying from injuries sustained in Iran’s attacks.
