Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix confronted his concerns about dogs on Christmas Day.

Earlier this year, ESPN and Amazon Prime Video broadcaster Kirk Herbstreit’s beloved dog Peter received what some fans described as a cold reception from the second-year NFL quarterback.

Before the Broncos won their 12th in their last 13 games, Herbstreit arranged for Nix to reunite with his dog.

“After @nflonprime #peter last time we had to make it happen with @bonix10,” Herbstreit subtitled An Instagram post showing the NFL star and his Golden Retriever along with two smiley face emojis.

Nix faced some backlash for his behavior when he first met Peter, with some observers accusing the quarterback of underestimating the dog.

After making amends with Peter during their reunion, the 25-year-old signalman took some time to share details about the origins of his less than glowing view of dogs.

“I think I was attacked by someone when I was little and I didn’t know any better,” Nix told Herbstreit. “My family didn’t grow up with them. My whole family isn’t really a dog family. I had one when I was a kid, and then it died and we couldn’t get a new one.”

The word “Dogs” has become associated with Nix and the Broncos this season. Earlier this year, Nix coined the term “extreme” after Denver upset the Green Bay Packers in Week 15.

“We’re the ones overdoing it now,” Nix told a reporter after the 34-26 win.

He has since started a campaign overdogs clothing liner. Proceeds from the collection went to the Denver Rescue Mission, an organization that aims to “end homelessness in Metro Denver and Northern Colorado,” according to its website.
