US military plane ‘goes down’ after ‘incident involving 2 planes’—rescue mission launched | World | News

The US military said a plane was lost in “friendly airspace” during Operation Epic Fury. US Central Command (CENTCOM) said Thursday night that one of its refueling planes, a KC-135, crashed during the mission portion of the operation against Iran.

The combat command said in a statement: “US Central Command is aware of the loss of the US KC-135 refueling aircraft. The incident occurred in friendly airspace during Operation Epic Fury and recovery efforts are ongoing. Two aircraft were involved. One of the aircraft crashed in western Iraq, while the second landed safely.”

CENTCOM added that the incident was “not due to enemy fire or friendly fire.”

The statement also states: “More information will be provided as the situation evolves. We ask for continued patience as we gather additional details and provide clarity to military families.”

Operation Epic Fury is the code name of the military operation launched by the United States against Iran on February 28. The operation, carried out jointly with Israel, aims to destroy Iran’s ballistic missile arsenal and production capacity, eliminate its navy, cut off support for its proxies and ensure that it does not acquire nuclear weapons.

US President Donald Trump He declared the operation successful multiple times over the past few days, saying on Monday that the battle was “pretty much complete.”

But hours later he said the US military would “go further” in the operation.
