US seeks more concessions from us than Russia:Zelenskiy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy expressed hope that the US-brokered peace talks in Geneva next week would be serious and solid, but expressed concern that Ukraine was being asked “too often” to make concessions in the negotiations.

“We really hope that the tripartite meetings next week will be serious, substantive and useful for all of us, but to be honest, sometimes it feels like the parties are talking about completely different things,” Zelenskiy said in his speech at the Munich Security Conference. he said.

The Ukrainian leader said he felt “some” pressure from US President Donald Trump, who said yesterday that Zelenskiy should not miss the “opportunity” to make peace soon.

“Americans often return to the issue of concessions, and these concessions are most often discussed only in the context of Ukraine, not in the context of Russia,” Zelenskiy said. he said.

But he added that he hoped the United States would continue to be involved in the negotiations and that Europe, which he said was currently being sidelined, would get the opportunity to play a larger role.

Zelenskiy has expressed concerns in the past that the US Congressional midterm elections could force the Trump administration to focus on domestic political issues after the summer.

Ukraine and Russia recently held two rounds of talks in Abu Dhabi, brokered by Washington; The parties described these negotiations as constructive but failed to make any major progress.

Russia said the Geneva delegation would be led by Putin’s advisor Vladimir Medinsky, a change unlike Abu Dhabi, where the Russian team was led by military intelligence chief Igor Kostyukov.

Ukrainian sources had previously criticized Medinsky’s handling of the negotiations, accusing him of giving history lessons to the Ukrainian team instead of participating in substantive negotiations.
