Heartbreak as girl, 2, dies after falling into pond on Christmas Day | UK | News

A two-year-old girl named Isobel tragically died after falling into a pond on Christmas Day.
The toddler was found in the garden pond moments after leaving a family celebration at their home in Doncaster.
Despite the family’s desperate efforts to perform CPR until the ambulance arrived, Isobel was sadly pronounced dead in hospital a short time later.
Posting a tribute on the GoFundMe page, her aunt Abigail described Isobel as “the happiest, friendliest, most adventurous and curious little girl” and added: “She brightened everyone’s life. Our beloved angel daughter.”
The family noticed that Isobel had momentarily disappeared while playing with her toys inside. They ran outside when they discovered that she had gone to the garden alone and fallen into the pond.
The pond, a temporary feature in the garden since the family had recently moved into the house, had been surrounded by a fence.
Detailing the tragic series of events on the GoFundMe page, Abigail wrote: “Our daughters, our two best friends, were surrounded by everyone playing with their new toys in the living room, kitchen and playroom… We couldn’t even find her and that’s when she went into the garden and fell into the pond.
“A pond that was there not by choice but because of a house move, their permanent home that they were renovating. A pond with a temporary fence around it, in a garden that she could never access on her own.”
Today an emotional Tamara paid tribute to her daughter on social media, saying the toddler had “lived longer in her two years than some children do in their entire lives” and expressed gratitude to the local community for their support.
The family have now launched a fundraiser to cover funeral costs and provide assistance to Isobel’s expecting mother, Tamara.
Abigail said: “I really want to do everything I can to relieve any pressure on them with funeral costs, counselling, being unemployed, etc.”
He added: “Tamara is 25 weeks pregnant and they need all the emotional and psychological support after this tragedy, not to be on the waiting list, so they have the strength for Isobel’s little sister.”
He also emphasized, “They don’t need the financial burden of having to start work while suffering the pain of a newborn baby.”
Additionally, Isobel’s family plans to create a memorial fairy garden. Abigail described it as “a special place where her magical personality could be remembered and her spirit could live on.”
