Telangana launches breakfast scheme: Everything to know

Telangana Government’s ambitious breakfast program for students from pre-primary to class 12 (secondary) in government institutions was launched in Hyderabad on Monday, June 15, 2026, which also marks the beginning of the academic year 2026-27. Textbooks and notebooks were also distributed to students.
Breakfast food to be served in Telangana Government schools and secondary schools

According to the breakfast plan, different foods are served for breakfast from Monday to Saturday, and one item, including millet-based foods, is repeated for two days. Milk or ragi jawa is also served.
Phased rollout
This will be phased in in all government and secondary schools across the State through a network of centralized kitchens. Under Phase I, 1,302 institutions, including 33 colleges, will be covered. Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Trust and Manna Trust will implement the plan under this phase in eight districts.
Ponnam Prabhakar, Minister responsible for Hyderabad, who initiated the project in the region, asked students to eat breakfast and lunch in state educational institutions. He said students are provided with nutritious food to ensure their physical and psychological health.
