Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced Thursday that U.S., Russian and Ukrainian officials will hold their first trilateral meeting in the United Arab Emirates. The two-day trilateral meeting will begin on Friday after Zelensky’s speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

In post Ukraine’s air defense was discussed during the talks; Zelenskyy noted that their previous meetings had strengthened sky protection and expressed hope to strengthen it further. He thanked Trump for the earlier package of air defense missiles, requested a new one, and emphasized that it protects lives, increases resilience and supports joint diplomatic efforts.

Earlier today, French President Emmanuel Macron announced on channel X that the French Navy had boarded a Russian-bound oil tanker offshore in the Mediterranean. The ship, which was subject to international sanctions and was suspected of flying a false flag, was stopped by a coordinated operation supported by many allies.

Meanwhile, US President Trump described his one-hour meeting with Zelenskyy as “good” and emphasized that the Ukraine war “must end”. “We hope this will end. Too many people are being killed,” Trump said, according to the Associated Press. He described the negotiations as “an ongoing process.”

Russia, Ukraine and the United States are advancing trilateral peace talks amid intensifying diplomacy in Davos. They build on President Trump’s months-long efforts to end the nearly four-year war.
