“Due to the ongoing risk of missiles, drones, and rockets in Iraqi airspace, do not attempt to come to the embassy in Baghdad or the consulate general in Erbil. All routine consular services, including all visa services, have been suspended. Americans should contact BaghdadACS@state.gov or ErbilACS@state.gov in emergencies.”

“The U.S. Embassy in Iraq is reminding U.S. citizens of the Level 4: Do Not Travel to Iraq warning. U.S. citizens are advised: ‘Do not travel to Iraq for any reason. If you are there, go immediately.'”

Earlier on Saturday, the US State Department issued a worldwide warning to its citizens, saying Iranian supporters could attack US citizens.

The warning stated that citizens should follow the guidance in security alerts issued by the nearest US embassy or consulate.

“Worldwide Caution: The State Department advises Americans around the world, and particularly in the Middle East, to exercise increased caution. Americans abroad should follow the guidance in security alerts issued by the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.”

“Periodic airspace closures may cause travel disruptions. U.S. diplomatic facilities, including those outside the Middle East, have been targeted. Groups supporting Iran may target other U.S. interests abroad or locations associated with the United States and/or Americans around the world.”
