US Warns Hamas Against Violating Ceasefire With Attack On Gaza’s Own People | World News

The United States issued a stern warning to Hamas on Saturday (local time) over what it described as a “planned attack” on Palestinian civilians in Gaza, stating that such an action would be a “direct and serious violation” of the existing ceasefire agreement with Israel, ending a two-year war after the October 7 attacks.
The US State Department said in a statement that it had received reliable intelligence reports suggesting that Hamas was preparing to commit a serious ceasefire violation, this time targeting its own people.
“The United States has informed the guarantor countries of the Gaza peace agreement of credible reports indicating that Hamas will soon violate the ceasefire against the people of Gaza,” the statement said.

“This planned attack on Palestinian civilians would constitute a direct and serious violation of the ceasefire agreement and undermine the significant progress achieved through mediation efforts,” the statement said. The statement was included.
The United States, along with other international guarantors of the ceasefire, called on Hamas to immediately stop any actions that would endanger civilians or destabilize the fragile peace in the region.
The statement said, “Guarantors demand that Hamas fulfill its obligations under the ceasefire conditions. If Hamas continues this attack, measures will be taken to protect the people of Gaza and the integrity of the ceasefire.”
Reaffirming its commitment to protecting civilians and maintaining regional stability, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that any attack by Hamas would not only violate the ceasefire but also threaten ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at long-term peace.
“The United States and other guarantors remain committed to ensuring the safety of civilians, maintaining calm on the ground, and advancing peace and prosperity for the people of Gaza and the region as a whole,” the statement said. The statement was included.
The warning comes as regional and international actors continue efforts to maintain calm following the latest round of ceasefire talks brokered between Israel and Hamas, in which Egypt, Qatar and the United States played a key role in the mediation process.
The warning followed more than a week of reported incidents in which Hamas members executed dozens of people, including rival clan members and other Palestinians accused of collaborating with Israel, according to the Times of Israel.
However, since the agreement is understood to be generally focused on preventing hostilities between Hamas and Israel, there is also uncertainty about how such internal actions by Hamas could amount to a violation of the ceasefire.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, a senior adviser to US President Donald Trump said that the US and Israel are coordinating efforts to establish safe zones in Israeli-controlled areas of Gaza that would provide shelter for Palestinians seeking to escape possible retaliation from Hamas, a senior adviser to US President Donald Trump said.
