Trump to sign order for DHS to pay TSA agents ‘immediately’ amid funding standoff | US politics

Donald Trump announced Thursday that he will sign an order directing the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to immediately pay Transportation Security Administration officials.
“I will be signing an Executive Order directing Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin to immediately pay our TSA Agents to address this Emergency and quickly stop Democrat Chaos at Airports,” Trump wrote on social media. “I want to thank our hard-working TSA Agents, as well as ICE, for the incredible assistance they provided us at the Airports.”
TSA agents have been working without pay for more than a month due to a partial DHS shutdown, leading to nationwide staffing shortages and long lines at airports across the United States.
