Craft Council’s Fundraiser Presents Best Curated Crafts

Hyderabad:Telangana Crafts Council’s quinquennial fundraiser, Kausalyam 2026, was inaugurated at the Anvaya Convention in Hyderabad on July 14, with proceeds earmarked for the revival of the Bharoon Embroidery Cluster and other artisan initiatives.

The exhibition features more than 75 textile studios and craft exhibitors across 120 stalls. It opened to select visitors on Tuesday evening and was open to everyone from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Entry is free.

Among the CCT committee members who inaugurated the event on Tuesday evening, Geetha Reddy, wife of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Nara Bhuvaneswari, wife of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and Konidela Surekha, wife of actor Chiranjeevi, were among those who visited on the opening evening.

Organized in collaboration with textile revivalist Gaurang Shah, Kausalyam offers an exhibition of handmade textiles, artisan collections and over 40 curated handicrafts from across India. The Textile Museum traces the history and evolution of textile traditions through selected pieces and techniques.

The program includes ‘Sita Anveshana’, a Telugu-English leather puppet show, and ‘Virata Parvam’, a Cheriyal scroll storytelling presentation powered by augmented reality. Visitors can also attend ‘Conversations with Craftpreneurs’, where artisans, designers and creative entrepreneurs discuss their work and the future of handmade crafts.

CCT said the fundraiser was planned to support the livelihoods of artisans and craft communities facing challenges. Founded in 1987, the council has been working for nearly four decades to preserve and promote traditional crafts through exhibitions, cultural programmes, artisan development work and public participation.

Bharoon Embroidery Cluster, one of the beneficiaries, represents a complex Sindhi tradition of embroidery maintained largely by women artisans. The craft is known for intense hand embroidery and colorful motifs. CCT said the revival effort aims to preserve tradition and create stable livelihood opportunities for artisan families.
