Over 2,500 Police Personnel to Guard Two-Day CII Partnership Summit in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: More than 2,500 police personnel and 15 drones will be deployed for the two-day CII Partnership Summit to be held at Andhra University College of Engineering Grounds in Visakhapatnam from Friday, November 14.

A foolproof plan has been devised to put the entire coastline under a thick security blanket. Approximately 1000 security personnel will protect the area. Police have ordered the installation of CCTV cameras in all shops and public places as part of increased security measures.

Speaking to this correspondent, Visakhapatnam city police commissioner Sankhabrata Bagchi announced that ASTRAM application will be used to manage and control traffic during the event.

Around 2 thousand participants, including ministers, bureaucrats and businessmen, are expected to attend the summit. More than 1,000 hotel rooms have been booked for delegates attending the two-day event.

In a review meeting with senior police officers, home minister Anitha emphasized the need to increase security in hotels where dignitaries and international delegates attending the summit are staying. The city will be under constant surveillance through drones and CCTV networks. He gave strict instructions to fire safety officials and directed the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams to remain on standby, warning officials against any malpractice.

Anitha also instructed to closely monitor social media platforms to curb false propaganda and take strict action against those spreading false information.

Additional safety measures include the deployment of trained swimmers at RK Beach, Tenneti Park and Rushikonda beaches. He also called for proactive traffic management, especially around RK Beach, to avoid congestion during the peak period.

According to sources, more than 100 CCTV cameras will be deployed at the venue alone. The entire stretch from Siripuram to Maddilapalem and the venue will be under surveillance. Door frame metal detectors (DFMDs) will be installed at multiple entry points and the venue will have several layers of security.

7 to 10 checkpoints are established throughout the city. There will be constant surveillance with drones. Dog teams and road clearing teams will be deployed along main routes. All summit participants are required to wear a photo ID card for identification.

A joint command and control room is being established at the venue. Liaison officers will monitor the movements of VVIPs. Officers have been assigned to each delegate to ensure proper coordination.

As a precaution, CNG and electric vehicles will not be allowed in the parking areas close to the event area. Within the scope of anti-sabotage measures, underground car parks and all critical points will be checked and kept under surveillance.

Following the blast in Delhi, the city police are conducting extensive security checks in Vizag as a precautionary measure. Large centers and crowded areas are thoroughly inspected. Security has been tightened at all bus and train stations.

Police examine passengers’ luggage and suspicious items using metal detectors and bomb/dog squads. Vehicle inspections have been increased at city limits and important intersections. Suspicious vehicles are stopped and the identities of those inside the vehicle are verified.

Surprise checks are carried out at lodges, hotels and hostels, and suspicious people are identified by examining the information and identities of newly arrived guests.

Cargo service centers, courier offices and warehouses are inspected.

Open patrols and surveillance were intensified throughout the city, with special teams designated for area dominance in areas hosting delegates and meetings.
