Andrew ‘terrified’ to face US Congress and Epstein scandal rumbles on | Royal | News

Andrew Mountbatten Windsor is “horrified” to face US Congress after latest wave of humiliations, a royal expert has claimed. The disgraced brother of King Charles, who saw all his titles and honors undermined by the king, has been asked to appear before the House Oversight Committee for a “transcribed interview” in connection with his “longstanding friendship” with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

In a letter sent to the former prince on Thursday, US politicians said their committee had identified “financial records containing notes such as ‘Massage for Andrew’ that raise serious questions”. The letter was signed by 16 Democratic committee members. He requested a response by November 20.

This comes just days after Andrew agreed to leave his home, Royal Lodge, following outrage, despite having a private lease with the Crown Estate.

Royal expert Phil Dampier said the letter was another “embarrassment” for the Royal Family as they seek to move on from Andrew’s scandal.

He also claimed that the former prince was “horrified” of sitting down for an interview with the committee for some reason.

he said Sun: “Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse for Prince Andrew, it turns out it does.

“He was stripped of his title by the King and now he has this summons from a congressional committee in America.

“I don’t think he was actually ordered or could be forced to go to this committee. I certainly don’t think there was any possibility of him traveling to the United States.”

He added: “I honestly think it’s about as likely as me flying to the moon. I know Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is afraid that if he goes abroad, as he is now, he could be arrested and extradited to America.”

Andrew tarnished the royal family’s reputation over his relationship with Epstein and for many years faced allegations that he sexually assaulted Virginia Giuffre, who was kidnapped by the financier.

He vehemently denied the allegations.

Andrew will move to the King’s private Sandringham estate in Norfolk as he begins his internal exile in the new year.
