Final chargesheet in Sharif Osman bin Hadi’s murder case by Jan 7: Bangladesh interim government

General elections in Bangladesh are planned to be held on February 12.
The interim government attaches great importance to Hadi’s case, Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury told reporters after the law and order Advisory Council meeting at the Secretariat.
According to news portal Bdnews24.com, the final chargesheet in the murder case will be filed on January 7.
Underlining that the case was taken to the fast-track trial court, Chowdhury claimed that justice would be provided during the term of the interim government.
The case is being investigated by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch.
Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Nasimul Gani also said that the indictment is ready and is being examined, the Tbsnews.net news portal reported. He said it would be completed and submitted by January 7.
Hadi, spokesperson of Inquilab Moncho, was a prominent youth leader during the mass street protests that led to the fall of the Awami League government led by Sheikh Hasina in 2024.
He was also a parliamentary candidate in the February 12 elections.
Hadi, 32, was shot in the head during the election campaign in Dhaka on December 12. He was flown to Singapore for further treatment but died from his injuries on December 18.
After Hadi’s death, mobs in Dhaka created mayhem and set fire to the main offices of the widely circulated newspaper Prothom Alo and the Daily Star, as well as the main offices in Dhaka of two progressive cultural groups, Chhayanat and Udichi Shilpi Goshthi. A Hindu factory worker was lynched by a mob in the center of Mymensingh.
