Victor Wembanyama scores 31 points in Spurs’ win over Nets

San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama lived up to the nicknames “Alien” and “Extraterrestrial” as he defeated the Brooklyn Nets 118-107 on Sunday.

Wembanyama stunned fans with an incredible scene at halftime.

The Spurs took an 18-point lead as the Nets tried to cut the deficit before the second quarter buzzer sounded. Nets forward Nic Claxton nonchalantly took a short shot with 40.1 seconds left, but Wembanyama blocked it. Nets forward Terance Mann tried to put the ball into the net with an offensive rebound, but saw his shot blocked by Wembanyama.

Brooklyn missed a shot on the second offensive rebound and the ball went into the hands of Wembanyama.

The 2.80 tall French player drove the ball down the floor and scored a three-pointer.

It was such a game for Spurs. Wembanyama played with 31 points, 14 rebounds, 6 blocks, 4 assists and 3 steals. This marked the 23rd time in his career that the third-year player recorded at least six blocks in a game.

The NBA said Wembanyama became the first player in history to score at least 100 points and record at least 15 blocks in the first three games of the season. He played with 40 points and three blocks against the Dallas Mavericks and 29 points and nine blocks against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Spurs start the season with a 3-0 lead.
