Prime Minister Jacinta Allan, who spent Sunday night with senior advisers at her home in Bendigo, has refused to resign despite mounting domestic pressure.

He told his supporters that he would stay regardless of any faction decisions.

Although there is no announced opponent, Deputy Prime Minister Ben Carroll has indicated that he would run for the leadership position if it becomes vacant.

But the Right-wing leader also signaled to his colleagues that he would not use his own numbers to oust the prime minister.
