President Donald Trump joked about bashing Elvis Presley; This was a joke that did not sit well with conservatives.

On March 23, Fox News suspended its regular programming and broadcast live coverage of 79-year-old President Trump touring the Graceland museum. The mansion in Memphis, Tennessee belonged to the late Jailhouse Rock singer. The president visited Presley’s former home after attending a Memphis Safe Task Force roundtable on combating violent crime.

After signing the body, Trump admired a replica of his black Presley guitar.

Trump spoke to two staff members at the tourist attraction and asked, “Could I take him to a fight?” he asked. before pressing them, “Do you think I could take Elvis to a fight?”

One member of staff jokingly replied, “I don’t know. You can,” while the other responded cordially: “I think he’d be respectful enough to let you win!”

The staff smiled at the duo as they told how the late singer earned a seventh-degree black belt in Kenpo Karate and then an eighth-degree black belt from Master Kang Rhee in 1974.

But critics did not find Trump’s joke amusing and questioned why the president did not focus on ending the war against Iran that began on February 28.

One critic said, “Only Trump dreams of a showdown with Elvis and coming out on top. Lots of laughter!” he said.

Trump touched on the issue while claiming to know the rock and roll legend personally, but also admitted he had never met him.

“You know, I’m going to see Graceland next? I think that’s true?” he said at the press conference.

“I love Elvis. I’ve never met Elvis. I’ve met them all. Frank Sinatra, I’ve known them all, I’ve never met Elvis,” he rambled.

“Sometimes I think I should lie a little and say, ‘I knew him well.’ I love Elvis but I’ve never met him, but I think I’ll go see Graceland next. I’m sure it won’t be a very long stay. But I want to see it.”
