Former President Bill Clinton said he did not remember President Donald Trump being involved in Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes, one of the Republicans who impeached him on Friday said.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., briefly briefed reporters during Clinton’s testimony about the panel’s Epstein investigation. The protest, which started around 11:00 am, is expected to continue until Friday evening.
“I know there’s a lot of obsession in the media about President Trump, a lot of curiosity in the media about President Trump. I want to make a statement because they probably won’t talk about it when they get here,” Comer said, referring to Democrats on the committee.
The panel’s top Democrat, Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif., said he asked Clinton whether Trump should be called before the committee like he was.

“That’s for you to decide,” Clinton said, according to Comer.
“The President said President Trump ‘didn’t say anything to make me think he was involved,’ and that he meant Epstein,” Comer said. “I thought that was an interesting thing President Clinton said.”
His depositions, and those of his predecessor, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, are being held at the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center in Westchester County, NY.
The Clintons claimed the New York City suburb as their permanent residence after leaving the White House in early 2000.
Democrats, who emerged from the performing arts center minutes later to brief reporters, signaled that they disagreed with Comer’s statement but would not go into details themselves.
Garcia suggested there was an agreement among all parties not to discuss the details of the deposition.

“I think the best answer to that would be to see the full record of what he actually said; look, we’re not going to disclose what was said because it’s not in the rules. But Republicans continue to break the rules,” the California Democrat told reporters.
“President Clinton put forward some additional information regarding conversations with President Trump. I don’t think the way Chairman Comer described it is a full and accurate description of what was actually said. So let’s release the full transcript and you can all get a full record of what was actually said, which raises some very important new questions about comments that President Trump has actually said in the past.”
Trump has been a major flashpoint in the growing partisan divide in the House Oversight Committee’s investigation.
Democrats accused the GOP side of covering up for Trump at the expense of Epstein’s victims, while Republicans accused Democrats of using pedophilia and his heinous crimes as a tool to attack the commander in chief.
“I don’t like to see her dethroned,” Trump told reporters Friday when asked about Clinton.
Testimony continues behind closed doors, but the committee is expected to release a video and transcript of the entire hearing within a few days of its conclusion. The same goes for Hillary Clinton’s statement; Video of this testimony will be released as early as this weekend.

The only part of Clinton’s testimony that has been made public so far was her opening statement, in which she denied knowing anything about Epstein’s crimes.
According to the prepared opening statement, Clinton said, “Let me tell you what you will hear from me now. First of all, I had no idea about the crimes that Epstein committed. No matter how many photos you show me, at the end of the day, I have two things that are more important than your interpretation of those 20-year-old photos.”

“I know what I saw and, more importantly, what I didn’t see. I know what I did and, more importantly, what I didn’t do. I didn’t see anything and I didn’t do anything wrong.”
Neither Trump nor Clinton was implicated in any wrongdoing related to Epstein or his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell.
