Video shows ‘crazy’ train crash into septic truck in Virginia

A Norfolk Southern freight train hit a septic tank truck at a railroad crossing in Chesapeake, Virginia, causing the truck to skid, destroying its tank and splattering green liquid at the crash scene.

Chesapeake Police Department He said the crash happened around 4 p.m. on May 14 in the 2900 block of Yadkin Road in the southeastern Virginia city near Virginia Beach. Police found an overturned truck at the scene and an adult male who was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, the department said in a Facebook post.

The seriously injured truck driver was taken to hospital. CBS News reported. The driver was in stable condition Friday, police said. WAVE-TV Channel 10, a Portsmouth, Virginia NBC affiliate. According to WAVY-TV, no one among the train crew was injured.

According to the Chesapeake Police Department, which is investigating, “Initial findings indicate the truck failed to stop at a stop sign prior to the collision.”

The crash created a “minor fuel-related hazmat situation,” but there was no “immediate danger to the public,” according to the department’s Facebook post.

Eyewitness Azuriah O’Daniel He shared the video of the accident Speaking to WAVY-TV with news outlets, he told WAVY-TV that the crash “exploded the septic tank (in the truck)… The crash was crazy.”

O’Daniel said he heard the train’s horn, but the train was unable to stop in time because the truck was on the tracks. The intersection does not have a railway crossing gate.
