A British man who abused multiple children while working at a nursery school has learned his fate.
Nathan Benson, 30, from Somerset, England, was sentenced to 30 years in prison at Bristol Crown Court on Monday (March 16). Avon and Somerset Police.
In February, a jury found Benson guilty of two counts of sexual assault by penetration, two counts of rape of a child under 13 and four counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
Benson had previously pleaded guilty to thirteen charges, including eight counts of sexual assault on a child under 13, four counts of causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.
In statements read in court, the families said they felt “overwhelming anger” and had difficulty trusting anyone ahead.
Benson’s actions came to light after parents and other staff at the nursery raised concerns, prompting her manager to review CCTV footage. After the crimes were caught on camera, police questioned and arrested Bennett in February 2025.
Specialist child protection officers reviewed hundreds of hours of footage from 18 cameras to identify multiple crimes and five child victims. Benson was first charged in August 2025 and has remained in custody since then.
Judge William Hart sentenced Bennett to 30 years in prison, including 24 years of probation and 6 years of supervised release. He was also given an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
“CCTV footage of young children running around and playing in the nursery, as we have at this hearing, would put a smile on any decent person’s face,” Hart told Benson during sentencing.
“But the children we saw were not safe, they were at risk because staff and parents did not know you were lurking, ready to abuse them and contaminate their innocence with your disgusting desires.”
