Violent shoplifter poses as wheelchair user to steal beer | News

A violent robber pretended to be a wheelchair user to steal from a supermarket before attacking a security guard in Kent.
Davey Brown, 19, of Winch’s Garth, Staplehurst, pretended to be a wheelchair user with the help of an accomplice. He hid two cases of beer under a jacket in his lap and tried to leave a Sainsbury’s in Staplehurst without paying.
When challenged by a security guard, Brown punched the man and threw beer bottles, cans and other items at him. Another store employee was injured by one of the items.
Brown fled but was stopped and arrested, bombarding officers with threats and abusive comments.
A lawsuit was filed against him for robbery, brawl, two counts of property damage, common assault, threatening words and behavior, and driving a motor vehicle on the road without insurance. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years and one month in prison on Thursday, November 6. He was also banned from driving.
