AFL is leading the competition to buy Waverley Park from Hawthorn Football Club with an agreement that will keep the former award -winning stadium as a football facility.

Although the agreement has not been finalized and the other parties participated in the bidding process, the three sources of competition speaking on condition of anonymity confirmed that AFL is becoming more and more willing to take more ground because it recognizes the value of Waverley Park’s code.

An agreement can be made within a few days between the club and AFL.
