Vizhinjam seaport Phase Two expansion likely next month

Vizhinjam Port, which was dedicated to the country in early May, will see the expansion of the second stage next month. The second stage, which is expected to be completed by 2028, aims to increase the container capacity of the harbor to approximately 4.5 million TEUs per year and add a break data of a 4 km long balloon juice, a tanker dock and a bunkering facility.
After starting commercial operations in December 2024, the port of Vizhinjam, which deals with approximately 1 million TEU, has a container’s ship and a 800 m -long container vessel scaffold, which can handle a container mother’s ship and two nutritious ships.
The second stage will increase the length of the container dock to 2000 m long and at the same time hold three mother ships and several nourishing ships.
Although it is slightly less than 9,000 Crore, the financing will be completely raised by Adani Ports & Sez Ltd (APSEZ), the ports of the Adani Group and the logistics company of Adani Group.
In 2015, the Kerala government signed an agreement with the APSEZ to develop the harbor, and there is a 40 -year concession to build, operate and transfer the port with a 20 -year extension provision of Adani. The port started trial operations in July 2024 and took San Fernando, his first mother.
The harbor has a natural deep draft that requires very little scanning to the shore.
During the opening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that 75% of India’s transfer operations were previously carried out in foreign ports, which led to significant loss of income for the country.
And Vizhinjam will help India’s money to serve India. Port officials are expected to reduce logistics costs for Indian manufacturers by 30-40%and the country is expected to increase export competitiveness.
So far, all containers discussed by the harbor transfer cargo -60% international and 40% Indian.
Port, EXİM did not make cargo – containers, after the customs clearance procedure and the containers to Vizhinjam via the road or railway.
Port managers say that even if the second stage expansion is realized, EXİM cargo will take 20%into account. Port executives refer to the private railway line, which was thrown from Vizhinjam Port by the Government of Kerala and is expected to be completed by 2028. These will help Vizhinjam’s internal connection through the road and railway and facilitate EXİM cargoes.
Trader ships for global trade require periodic changes of the crew.
The island of Singapore and Reunion is the leading crew exchange scores on the East-West Sea on the East-West Sea where Vizhinjam is located.
Vizhinjam Port officials work with the government to establish an international crew change facility and benefit from the positional advantage.
A crew change facility can potentially increase the local economy through hotels, restaurants and other facilities serving sailors as transit.
Some of the largest container ships of 400 m long and approximately 24,000 TEU capacity were placed in Vizhinjam.
After finding that 10 doors should be wrapped again for ship stability and safety of the crew, the port executives remember that a fully loaded Claude Girarden, who has a 399 m long mega container ship and evaporates to Vizhinjam. Within a few hours, the containers hugged again and the Girarace set sail. Vizhinjam has a high -tech port with operators at an air -conditioned remote control station carrying cranes on the coating and vessels.
Automatic use
The port assigned 8 Quay Crane and 20 Fully Automatic Console Portal Crane, which carried out container operations without the need for 8 Quay cranes and a human crane operator. All container processing transactions are carried out by automation systems distributed by the world leaders in the automation of container terminal. To monitor and control ship operations, an advanced digital twin system that automatically collects and assimilates machinery and operational activities is applied, allows controllers to be proactive and respond to operational exceptions without delays.
The port has also adopted developed sensor and radar -based technology with artificial intelligence to effectively monitor, coordinate and manage the large container ships when they come to the dock after their evacuation and set out.
