VMC Issues Seizure Notices To Tax Defaulters

: The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has intensified its special effort to recover pending municipal taxes by issuing property seizure notices to chronic defaulters and cutting off water and drainage services in some areas.
Municipal Commissioner HM Dhyanachandra said the corporation has launched a focused campaign around the three municipalities to recover arrears related to property tax, vacant land tax, water tax and drainage charges. As part of the action, authorities posted notices of property confiscation on the properties of habitual defaulters in various regions.
While action was taken in One Town and Bhavanipuram in Circle-1, similar notices were sent to defaulters in Seetharampuram and nearby areas in Circle-2. Additionally, water supply and drainage connections to certain properties in Ajith Singh Nagar were disconnected as part of sanctions against those who failed to pay long-pending dues.
The commissioner stated that the financial year 2025-26 will end on March 31 and the state government has directed civic bodies to ensure collection of entire revenue. He warned that stringent action, including seizure of properties under the AP Municipal Corporation Act, would be taken against persistent defaulters and urged residents to pay their dues immediately.
