Fire Damages 4-Lakh Property At Kakinada Court

KAKINADA: A fire broke out at the 2nd Additional Senior Civil Judge’s Court in Kakinada on Saturday morning, allegedly caused by an electrical short circuit, causing an estimated damage of ₹ 4 lakh. There was no loss of life in the incident. According to One Town police, the fire was first noticed when a court official opened the doors and saw flames near the judge’s chair. It was reported that the fire started from the computer and printer table and quickly spread to adjacent furniture. Three air conditioners were completely destroyed and there was serious damage to the floor and roof of the courtroom. Fire crews prevented a major disaster by extinguishing the flames before they spread to other parts of the building. Preliminary reports suggest that the fire may have been caused by an overload on the UPS system connected to the computers. Officials also suspect that the recent continuous rain has caused water to leak from the roof, possibly entering the electrical box and causing a short circuit. District Judge Gandham Suneetha said that a detailed investigation will be carried out to determine the exact cause of the incident by inspecting the area.
