WA public holidays: West Aussies to get two more days off a year under calendar shake-up

Western Australians will receive two extra public holidays a year – Easter Saturday and the new weekday show day will spend a new week – and the dates of the existing three holidays will be changed to WA’s public holiday calendar.
Prime Minister Roger Cook announced on Saturday that WA was shaken by the official holiday calendar to Sunday Times, and the people said that the government supported the changes in which the government swims a few months ago.
However, the increase of 11 from 11 to 13 in public holidays is likely to infuriate the work, the state government’s own analysis showing that WA employers should be wounded in an extra way for additional wages of WA employers.
Public and bank holidays change Bill 2025 is expected to be introduced to the WA Parliament this week to ensure changes.
The new WA starting from 2028 is under the official holiday regime:
Easter Saturday will now be an official holiday and will join the good Friday, Easter Pazar and Easter on Monday. This will align WA as Victoria, Act and NT.
The king’s birthday will now be shifted to the second Monday of June to better adapt to other states during the Royal Show week.
A new weekly public holiday, known as the show day to balance the September-October school holidays, will be added. Regional Councils will be able to organize the demonstration day in September.
The WA day will be moved from June to the second Monday of November.
The Labor Day will be on the second Monday of March to be compatible with other states. During the state election years, avoiding a long weekend election will be the third Monday of March.
Mr. Cook said that the response of the Western Australians was “overwhelming, by supporting changes to better align the WA holidays with the rest of the country.
The sad fact is that many small and family companies in WA are very difficult.
Sunday Times said, “We want the WA’s economy to be the most powerful of the country,” Sunday Times said. “So, to ensure that it works without any problems, it makes sense to make business as efficient as possible with the Eastern states.
“Following the right balance is very important and I want to make sure that the workers take the breaks they deserve while keeping WA’s economy strong.
“These families and a gain for business. These changes will modernize the WA calendar, support the economy and provide more opportunities to celebrate our community, culture and achievements.”
Easter was strongly opposed by WA, WA Tourism Council and Australian Hotels Association WA on Saturday.
Last month CCIWA Co -President Aaron Morey, “WA businesses, 65 dollars per hour to wash dishes, it is clear that they can not meet two more days,” he said.
“The sad fact is that many small and family businesses in WA do very difficult right now.”
Evan Hall, the boss of the Tourism Council, said last month that “small enterprises in the attraction sector cannot meet themselves more penalties”.
Cabinet Secretary Daniel Pastorelli said that there was “comprehensive community consultancy” about the changes.
“These changes were shaped by comprehensive community consultancy, including more than 10,000 applications from enterprises, organizations, the highest organs, unions and community.”
“We wanted to ensure that Western Australians spread even from public holidays throughout the year.
“Changes will align us more appropriately with the rest of Australia and allow economic activity to continue to develop.
“Moving the WA day to November will only improve the celebrations of our great state and give people a long weekend in front of the intense pre -Christmas period.”
