I do not want to reconcile with my family, says Brooklyn Peltz Beckham | Brooklyn Beckham

An argument made public on social media attracted global attention and filled the front pages Tuesday with the dire consequences it has for a once-close relationship.

No, it wasn’t US President Donald Trump criticizing the UK for its “extreme stupidity”, it was Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, son of David and Victoria Beckham, who has apparently cut ties with his family permanently.

The 26-year-old actor has spoken out for the first time and acknowledged the bad blood between him and his family in a post on Instagram.

In a statement on the social media site, he claimed his parents controlled media narratives about his family and tried to “ruin” his relationship with wife Nicola Peltz Beckham.

“I have remained silent for years and have made every effort to keep these matters confidential.

“Unfortunately, my family and their team continued to go to the press, leaving me no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that were printed.

“I don’t want to make peace with my family, I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.

“My entire life, my family has controlled the media narratives about our family. Performative social media posts, family events, and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.

“I have recently seen with my own eyes how far they will go to spread countless lies to the media, often at the expense of innocent people, in order to protect their own image. But I believe that the truth always comes out.”

Nicola, the daughter of American billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz and former model Claudia Heffner Peltz, married Brooklyn in 2022.

He is the eldest son of the former English football player and his fashion designer wife. The couple are also parents to Cruz and Romeo and daughters Harper.

Brooklyn added: “My parents have been trying non-stop to destroy my relationship since my wedding and it hasn’t stopped.

“Despite how excited she was to wear Nicola’s design, my mother canceled making Nicola’s dress at the 11th hour, forcing her to urgently find a new dress.

“Weeks before our big day, my family repeatedly pressured and tried to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would affect me, my wife, and our future children.

“They were very insistent that I sign the agreement before my wedding date because the terms of the agreement would apply then. My extension affected my payday and they have never treated me the same since.”

“During the wedding planning my mother went so far as to call me ‘bad’ because Nicola and I chose to include my Nanny Sandra and Nicola’s Nanny at our table because neither of them had a husband. Both our parents had their own tables equally adjacent to ours.”

The statement continued: “Since the moment I began defending myself with my family, I have been subjected to countless attacks from my family, both private and public, sent to the press on their orders.

“Even my siblings took to social media to attack me, then suddenly blocked me last summer.”

Brooklyn claimed his mother “missed” his first dance with Nicola and that she danced “inappropriately on top of me” in front of their guests, adding that she had never felt so “uncomfortable or humiliated” in her entire life.

He also claimed that he was “disrespected” by his wife’s family and was not invited to his father’s 50th birthday party.

Brooklyn continued: “My family values public exposure and support above all else. Brand Beckham comes first. Family ‘love’ is determined by how much you post on social media or how quickly you drop everything to step up and pose for a family photo, even at the expense of our professional obligations.”

“The narrative that my partner controls me is completely opposite. I have been controlled by my family for most of my life.

“I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. Since moving away from my family, this anxiety has disappeared for the first time in my life. I wake up every morning with gratitude for the life I chose, and I have found peace and relief.

“My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press and manipulation. All we want is peace, privacy and happiness for ourselves and our future family.”

Brooklyn had previously dabbled in photography and cooking; He released an instant photography book called What I See in 2017 and Cloud23, a hot sauce brand, in 2024. She also posted her cooking videos on social media.

David and Victoria Beckham have been contacted for comment.
