The British toddler mauled to death by a pitbull on a Greek holiday island has been photographed for the first time as his heartbroken mother pays tribute to “the sweetest boy you could ever imagine”. Two-year-old Leon Dulia was killed just seconds after he went to pet the dog in the yard. She was attacked and fatally injured after a shopping trip with her mother Robbie Deeth, 32, and father Loukas.

Devastated, Robbie blamed hunters using whistles and guns in the nearby woods for scaring the pit bull. He said the tragedy occurred ‘in less than 30 seconds’ on the Greek holiday island of Zakynthos. Robbie has lived here with her husband and family for several years after moving from Andover, Hampshire.

She told the Daily Mail: “He hasn’t had any problems with it since we got him and he let Leon tickle his tummy, caress him and lick Leon’s face; he never caused any problems. “Leon used to play with him all the time.

“Something hit him and within 30 seconds of us going in to do the shopping, Leon left to see him and then it was over, Leon was grabbed or shaken, it looked like he had only been bitten once.”

Robbie said of her son: “He was a beautiful little boy who never stopped smiling and was a joy to be with and brought us so much joy. He loved the animals we have here and we have lots of cats, horses and dogs and the pitbull had never had any problems until Saturday when this happened.”

She added: “I would never have let Leon play with the pitbull if I had known there was any danger, but he was fed, watered and never caused any trouble.”
