John Parry hole in one at the Open in Northern Ireland

“I think about 10,” he said. “But it was definitely the best. Yes, 100 percent.”

He said he didn’t expect the ball to come in.

“No. Once I made a really good shot, so it was quite nice,” he said.

“It was a very comfortable shooting that I knew was a big window to get off the ball. Either it would be short and will hit down and feed down, or – it went a little stronger than I thought I was hit. But I felt close.”

Royal was the second largest chest of the week in Portrush. Although a hole at any level in any tournament is always exciting, nothing can compete with McILOY in Northern Ireland.

When McILOY made a bird at the front nine (if you were wondering, three) received such low applause.

Parry was proud of being able to gather himself after the excitement of an open hang. It made it equal to the next hole and 15 to finish the tour under a 67 round.

“You can almost move a little, and then everything goes downhill.”

It’s okay, we’ve all moved a little for you.

Sam McClure went to the British Open with the help of Golf Australia.
