The Washington Post is instructing employees to stay home on Wednesday and attend a Zoom webinar ahead of widely anticipated layoffs.
“We’ll be announcing significant actions across the company today. We’re asking everyone to stay home for a Zoom webinar to share details at 8:30 a.m. ET this morning. We’ll send out a detailed invitation later this morning. Please make every effort to attend,” executive editor Matt Murray and chief human resources officer Wayne Connell wrote.
Washington Post staffers are aggressively tweeting at billionaire owner Jeff Bezos and urging him to save the newspaper.
The newspaper’s sports section is expected to be significantly reduced during the cuts. Fox News Digital reported last week that the company could see about 300 employees laid off.
