Jetstar’s first direct flight from Perth to Manila departs runway as airline expands routes for WA travellers

Jetstar’s first direct flight from Perth to Manila has gone off the runway, offering Western Australian travelers more ways to fly to the tropical destination.
The budget airline’s first flight to the Philippine capital took to the skies on Thursday night, with regular, non-stop services scheduled three times a week with an Airbus A321LR.
With the addition of Manila, Jetstar now operates five routes to Asia outside WA’s capital, complementing the airline’s services to Phuket, Bali, Singapore and Bangkok.
Jetstar CEO Stephanie Tully said the first Perth-Manila flight marks a new chapter in the airline’s Western Australian operations.
“This is the first time Jetstar is flying between Perth and the Philippines.
Manila will be popular with Western Australian holidaymakers for its great value shopping, delicious food and rich historical and cultural experiences.
“This is Jetstar’s fifth route from Perth to Asia and is part of a longer-term plan to grow our western operations, allowing customers to take more flights at less cost.”
Perth-based Jetstar First Officer Daniel McKelvie will operate these services, giving him a new direct link to his mother’s hometown.
“My mom grew up in Manila and I go there every year to see family and friends, so having direct flights from Perth is incredible.
“One of the things I love most about Manila is the warm and friendly hospitality of Filipinos who always make me feel at home.”
One-way fares from Perth to Manila currently start at $299 online.
