U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested an illegal immigrant who the agency said “weaponized” his vehicle when he crashed into two ICE vehicles and nearly ran over an agent.
Cuban illegal Robyn Argote Brooks crashed into two ICE cars in a San Antonio parking lot in an attempt to evade arrest during a targeted vehicle stop, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
Captured video of the incident shows Brooks, who was driving a sedan and being pinned down by the agents’ vehicles, suddenly reversed, defying law enforcement’s instructions, narrowly missing an agent and crashing into a federal SUV. After unsuccessfully accelerating towards the larger vehicle, Brooks accelerates towards another internal combustion engine vehicle in front of him, a sedan, and continues to accelerate as agents attempt to stop him.
Eventually, an agent breaks Brooks’ window and pulls him out of the car to make the arrest. The incident occurred Tuesday and comes amid growing concerns that vigilantes and anti-ICE agitators are violently seeking to disrupt federal law enforcement operations.

DHS said ICE officers are currently facing a 3,200% increase in vehicle assaults. From Jan. 21, 2025, to Jan. 7, 2026, ICE officers experienced 66 “vehicular assaults,” compared to just two during the same period the previous year, the agency said.
DHS Deputy Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated that one of the ICE officers involved in the arrest was injured and said, “We pray for his health and his family.”
He placed the blame squarely on pro-sanctuary politicians, saying, “They encouraged illegal aliens to evade arrest.”
“They have created an environment that encourages violence against law enforcement,” McLaughlin said, adding that agents are facing “more than a 1,300% increase in attacks against them.”

“Secretary Noem was clear: anyone who attacks law enforcement will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” she warned.
Brooks entered the United States in 2024 under the Biden administration’s CBP One application, which has “allowed more than one million unvetted aliens to enter the country,” according to the agency.
Brooks is currently in ICE custody.
Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons argued Tuesday that federal immigration agents face “constant obstacles” and “constant attacks.”
“When we hear elected officials calling on individuals to obstruct or impede ICE law enforcement operations across the country, you will see incidents like this,” Lyons said. “You saw officers and agents trying to capture a criminal illegal alien, and there they are using their cars as weapons.”

“The men and women of ICE face this every day,” he said. “Constant blocking, constant attacks like this. And it’s not safe for my family, it’s not safe for the public. This really needs to stop.”
