A police spokesman said: “When we called emergency services for help, it was alleged the same attacker, who had been waiting nearby, then attacked the woman.”
“The police arrived at the scene a short time later and detained the 34-year-old man. It is also alleged that the man spat at the police officer during the arrest.”
The man was charged with one count each of causing grievous bodily harm, serious assault on a police officer and common assault.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said the 18-year-old was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a “potentially life-threatening condition”.
The 27-year-old woman who called the police was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The accused Moggill man was due to appear at Southport Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
