Following the assassination of the conservative activist Charlie Kirk, its impact on political discourse and recent political violence was held on Capitol Hill and its country.
While both Republicans and Democrats condemn all kinds of political violence, their views vary depending on how inflamed political discourse plays. Some Republicans accused of encouraging a “assassination culture” on the left, while the Democrats accused the Republicans of free speech.
A member of the Congress, representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y., as the reason for the increase in political violence, tried to direct the conversation for arms control.
Ocasio-Cortez said, “This is not just about what happened to Charlie Kirk. At the same time tragic killing took place, three children were hit at school, and another pair of children were hit in a mass of church, one or two weeks after the mass was shot in a Catholic school.” He said.

Representative Ritchie Torres, DN.Y., everyone should have the right to speak freely, otherwise America’s democratic tradition may be threatened, he said.
“Look, Congress has a limit to what the Congress can do, because you know, we have the first change that preserves all kinds of speech, including hate speech, but we must have any rhetoric that glorifies violence. I see violence as the collapse of American democracy.” He said. He continued: “We all have the right to speak freely, freely thinking, harassment or intimidation or fear of violence. And once we lose the ability to speak freely in the public square, then as we know it ends democracy.”

He continued: “You should look at the role that social media companies play to allow violent discourses on their sites. And what more can we do to see these attacks earlier?” Swalwell asked. “I’m waiting and I’m ready to learn where there are signs that are kidnapped by law enforcement officers. Because if that’s the case, we have to do better, because the temperature is just increasing.”
