Watch: The village that kept Thyagaraja’s music alive

The sleepy temple town of Thiruvaiyaru in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu comes alive with music every January. The center of this annual pilgrimage is the Thyagaraja temple. This is where Saint Thyagaraja attained Jeeva Samadhi. Every year, on his samadhi day, musicians gather to recite the Saint’s Pancharatna Kritis in a ritual known as Thyagaraja Aradhana.
