Iran and US nuclear talks in Oman ‘were a good start’

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said the high-risk nuclear talks between Iran and the United States in Oman were a good start and will continue.
Speaking to Iranian state television, Araqchi said, “It was a good start for the negotiations. There is an understanding about the continuation of the talks. The coordination on how to proceed will be decided in the capitals.” he said.
He stated that officials from both sides will return to their countries for consultations and that the “wall of mistrust” must be overcome.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Wednesday that both sides are ready to revive diplomacy on Iran’s nuclear dispute, while the United States wants to expand talks to include Iran’s ballistic missiles, support for armed groups in the region and “the treatment of its own people.”
Iranian officials have repeatedly said they will not discuss Iran’s missiles, one of the largest arsenals in the region, and want Iran’s right to enrich uranium recognized.
For the USA, enrichment in Iran is a red line.
