British influencer Brittany Miller, 29, from East Sussex, shared a humble apology on her social media page on Monday after her crime was exposed online.

“As soon as I saw there were donations – there were two donations – I immediately closed the page,” claimed the influencer, whose partner and children regularly feature in his content.

The mother of two children said she “deeply regrets” telling a friend “secretly” that she “had the disease” and emphasized that she did not make up this lie “with malicious intent or to defraud people.”

“I did this to keep the people in my life close to me,” Brittany claimed in the clip. ‘I don’t rule it out, I understand why I did it and I have learned from my mistakes… This was not a long-running scam.’

The tearful influencer said she suffered from ‘extremely poor mental health’ and was ‘depressed, suicidal and confused’ at the time, losing both her partner and her job.

Claiming that she told the ‘truth’ to ‘put an end to people who distort and exaggerate what actually happened’, Brittany said: ‘There were a lot of things that pushed me to become mentally ill that year.’

Former friends reportedly accused the influencer of deleting comments about her lying on her posts, but she said she now “owed it” to her followers to be open about a “very difficult time” that she “never wanted to talk about.”

He added that the fundraising page came about after explaining how one friend told another: ‘I grew from that.

‘I’m trying to be the best version of myself. ‘It took me a long time to understand why I did this and I forgive myself because I was mentally ill.’

He continued: ‘And I’m deeply sorry to anyone I triggered by what I said. This was years before I was on social media, I didn’t do it to get likes or followers.

‘I know how terrible this disease is… I am so very sorry. ‘I admitted what I did and apologized to the people I hurt.’

Brittany, whose lie was brought to light by old friends, said she moved from her hometown a year later when she met her partner after getting a job at a fundraising company.

He said he was now ‘in good mental shape again’ and was ‘very proud’ of where he is now compared to that ‘dark place’.

‘Honestly, I’m the center of attention, every video gets millions of views, I get it, there are bad people out there, I get that… I just think, how cruel can you really be? It’s so cruel.’
