Major fire breaks out at paint and eye-drop manufacturing units

Goods worth lakhs were destroyed in a massive fire that broke out at paint and eye drops manufacturing units on Noombal Main Road near Vanagaram in the early hours of Saturday.

The facilities were closed around 6.30pm on Friday. After being alerted about the fire by residents at 5 am the next day, police personnel from Maduravoyal, Poonamallee and Virugambakkam fire and rescue stations rushed to the spot with fire-fighting equipment.

Fire crews battled the fire for hours before taking it under control. According to officials, the fire broke out in two adjacent industrial premises at Noombal near Vanagram.

Short circuit

Initial investigations indicate that the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit. However, the investigation continues to determine the exact cause of the fire.
