Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth he and the president said Donald Trump He said “we are prepared to go as far as we have to go” to overthrow Iran’s theocratic regime, and that that includes sending American troops to Iran if necessary 60 Minutes Sunday night.

“We reserve the right. We would be completely unwise if we didn’t reserve the right to choose a particular option, whether it’s boots on the ground or boots on the ground,” Hegseth said.

This answer came some time after he said it. Major Garrett The United States did not have any “overt or covert forces” currently operating in Iran. But he grinned and was wary of Garrett, telling him, “Oh, I wouldn’t have told you this if we did.”

“People ask: ‘Boots on the ground, boots off the ground? Four weeks, two weeks, six weeks? Get in, get in.’ President Trump knows — I know — you don’t tell the enemy, you don’t tell the press, you don’t tell anyone what your limits are going to be on an operation,” Hegseth said.

“We are ready to go as far as we need to go to be successful,” he said.

Garrett later said that the seventh US soldier injured in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East died on Sunday. Americans did not die in vain, Hegseth said.

But that doesn’t weaken us one bit. It hardens our spine and our resolve to say that this is a fight we will finish.”
