West Bengal elections: 6.5 lakh of 61 lakh adjudication cases cleared in poll-bound state

However, the number of rejected cases out of 6.5 lakh is unknown. Meanwhile, around 200 newly appointed judicial officers from Odisha and Jharkhand will review the verdicts of eight districts – North and South 24 Parganas, Hooghly, Howrah, Birbhum, East and West Burdwan and Nadia.
People in the know said that the Election Commission of India, in a high-level meeting on Thursday, had directed enforcement agencies, including the Enforcement Directorate, SGST and income tax department, among others, to prepare for the assembly elections, ensure naka checking, daily searches and seizures and submit reports to the ECI at regular intervals.
ECI Bench to reach Bengal
The 13-member full delegation of the ECI, led by CEC Gyanesh Kumar, will visit Kolkata from March 8-10 to review the poll preparations. A meeting will be held with the participation of all parties for two hours on March 9, starting from 10 am.
A series of meetings will be held with officials of various enforcement agencies, IG, DIG, Commissioner of Police, district magistrates and Superintendents of Police. On March 10, further meetings will be held in the morning with West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal, State Police Nodal Officer and CAPF Nodal Officers. The delegation will also hold meetings with the general secretary, DGP and other administrative officials. Discussions will also be held with BLOs.
The delegation had previously visited Tamil Nadu and Assam.
