England’s Golden Generation ‘weren’t a team’ – Gerrard

Former British captain Steven Gerrard said he sometimes “hated” to be international tasks and accused the lack of success with three lions on team spirit scarcity.

45 -year -old Gerrard won 114 cover and played in six major tournaments before reaching the semifinals.

A part of the so -called ‘Golden Generation’ believes that a UK ruler can play him in a successful midfield with Chelsea’s Frank Lampard and Manchester United Paul Scholes.

Gerrard, who played his full career in Liverpool with Liverpool in La Galaxy before the last season, says that then the players were very reluctant to interfere with their teammates playing for rival clubs.

“Now I’m watching the TV and I see Jamie Carragher sitting next to Paul Scholes, and they look like the best wife for 20 years.

“And I see Carragher’s relationship with Gary Neville, and they look like a wife for 20 years. Probably closer to you and friendly [Ferdinand] More than the time I played with you for 15 years [for England].

“So why didn’t we connect when I was 20, 21, 22, 23 years old? Ego? Is it a competition?

“He fell into the culture in England. We were not friendly or linked. We were not a team. We were never a real good, powerful team.”
