West Perth scrub fire: Emergency services extinguish blaze that threatened nearby buildings and motorists

A bush fire in Perth’s west has come dangerously close to igniting buildings along a major road.
Emergency services responded to calls of a fire near the Graham Farmer Highway in West Leederville at 11.39am on Thursday.
Fireys from Vincent and Daglish fire stations were called to the blaze, which was burning foliage along the busy road where traffic had picked up at lunchtime.

The left lane was closed to traffic as the flames extinguished, and already closed roads were also blocked as the fire threatened drivers.
DFES said the blaze was extinguished before it reached nearby buildings by 12.13pm and no property damage was reported.
The cause of the bush fire is considered accidental. WA Police were at the scene.
