Bondi warns protesters in Minnesota of arrests for attacking federal agents

U.S. Attorney Pam Bondi warned protesters in Minnesota on Thursday that while peaceful demonstrations are protected under the First Amendment, obstructing or attacking federal law enforcement will result in arrests and prosecution.
“Obstructing, obstructing, or assaulting federal law enforcement officers is a federal crime. So is damaging federal property,” Bondi wrote to X.
“If you cross this red line, you will be arrested and prosecuted. Do not test our resolve.”
The threat came after dozens of people gathered in Minneapolis to protest the death of Renee Nicole Good, 37, who was shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer.

Video taken early Thursday morning painted a different picture, with some people confronting federal law enforcement in front of the Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building.
Fox News captured footage of police officers pushing people back and appearing to detain multiple people.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for an update on the number of arrests in Minnesota.
A man in the crowd was seen carrying an upside-down American flag, while others were seen standing with signs.
“Rest in strength, Renee,” read a handwritten sign nestled among the flowers and candles. Other signs read “ICE IS OUT!” it said. and “You Can’t Shoot Us All.”

The shooting of US citizen Good has intensified divisions on Capitol Hill; Lawmakers clashed over the Trump administration’s immigration policy and ICE enforcement operations.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said Good tried to “get a gun into his vehicle” and “tried to run over a law enforcement officer” before he was shot.
Minnesota officials, including Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Governor Tim Walz, condemned the attack and publicly challenged the government’s handling of the events.

“The state will ensure a full, fair and expeditious investigation to ensure accountability and justice,” Walz said. he said.
Minneapolis Public Schools said on its website that classes were canceled Jan. 8-9 out of an abundance of caution due to safety concerns.
