SAfrica floods death toll rises to over 100

Authorities, two weeks ago, the lower parts of the rural East Cape province of South Africa rose to 101, the death of the youngest fatal floods with a 12 -month -old baby.
Two children are still missing.
On June 9th and 10th of June, the heavy rain caused by a cold front resulted in floods that swept their victims and homes, on the others in their homes, on damaged roads and other infrastructure and electrical materials.
Zolile Williams, the official of the East Cape State Government, provided a mortality rate updated in a press briefing on Thursday and said that the search operations for two missing children are continuing.
Williams said that 94 of 101 victims were defined and their bodies were delivered to their families. There were 38 children among the victims. More than 4000 people in East Cape state remained homeless.
Last week, South Africa declared a national disaster situation that allowed the government to publish financing for aid services.
Williams said that an estimated A440 million dollars will be needed to replace the damaged infrastructure, and the state, one of the poorest in South Africa, needs help from the national government.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa visited the worst affected sites two weeks ago and blamed heavy rains and disasters in climate change.
Another cold façade hit the West Cape province of South Africa this week, the days brought rain and caused floods in and around Cape Town.
South Africa is vulnerable to powerful air fronts from the Indian and Southern oceans. In 2022, more than 400 people died in floods caused by long -term heavy rains in Durban and surrounding regions in the Eastern coast.
