A source close to the Duke of Sussex has said that Prince Harry will not travel to Washington DC to see his father during the King’s state visit to the US. Harry, who has a troubled relationship with his father and the rest of the Royal Family, lives on the West Coast of the US with his wife, the Duchess of Sussex, and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Father and son last met in person six months ago, and the King last saw Archie and Lili in person nearly four years ago. Harry will deliver a keynote speech in Washington on Tuesday, March 31, for the IAPP global summit on privacy, AI governance and cybersecurity law.
According to IAPP, the Duke shares his “views on whether today’s digital world is breaking or bridging society and the role we can play in reshaping the future.”
It was announced earlier on Tuesday that the King and Queen’s state visit to the United States would go ahead as planned, despite calls for the trip to be canceled due to President Trump’s war on Iran.
Buckingham Palace officially announced the highly anticipated trip to commemorate the 250th anniversary of America’s independence on Tuesday.
The event, to be held in late April, will feature all the trappings of a US visit to the White House, including an official banquet with an Honor Guard and speeches. Charles will also address both houses of the US Congress.
But the move quickly sparked criticism due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and Mr Trump’s repeated comments belittling Sir Keir Starmer and condemning Britain’s military capabilities.
