Massive fire erupts at Chevron refinery near Los Angeles

El Segundo, California (AP) – Thursday night, a Chevron oil refinery just outside Los Angeles, a fire broke out and sent flames to the air that could be seen for miles.
El Segundo, officials in California called on people to stay inside. In a statement published about 30 minutes after the flames started, they said there was no urgent threat to public security and that it was not ordered.
The company said in a statement late on Thursday, that there was no injury in the Refinery of Chevron El Segundo and that all personnel were announced. The expression did not say what caused the fire.
El Segundo Police and Fire Departments, suddenly did not comment on the fire that appeared to be exploded immediately.

According to the company’s website, the refinery roughly covers 1.5 miles (3.9 kilometers) and has more than 1,100 miles (1,770 kilometers). The refinery, which has been operating since 1911, can develop 290,000 barrels of crude oil per day, including gasoline, jet and diesel fuels according to the company’s website.
