What to do during a layover
Airport
Helsinki International Airport (HEL), Finland
Flight
From Helsinki to Reykjavik, Finnair Moon 6817 (operated by Iceland Air)
Arrival
My flight comes from Singapore at 5.30. The airport is divided into two parts-for passengers from Schengen countries and the other from non-Schengen countries. A little confusing in the application. I come from Non -Schengen Singapore and follow the signs to our door in Schengen region. On the way, I identify Finnair Lounge (I can’t access a world status) and I try to enter it, but I’m directed to another hall on the Schengen side. Finally, I solve the direction and I was channeled through immigration. There are very little, so the entrance takes less than a few minutes. I’m going to the wonderful world of the Schengen half of the airport through my passport stamped and the door.
Appearance
Light, bright, beautiful and cunning with parquet wooden floors, hanging greens, windows to ceiling and bright colored corners and contemporary furniture.
Security
Helsinki Airport A useful website This allows you to check the tail time for safety and migration; Images the estimated number of passengers in 30 minutes. The security process is similar to new systems used in Australia. However, unlike some Australian airports, laptops need to be removed and scanned separately.
Entrance
Since I am transit, I jump the check-in process at this airport after I did it in Sydney. At the door, there is an ominous scale to weigh the hand baggage. There is an announcement that advises passengers with overweight transport to declare for free door control. However, only one person does this and the bags are not weighed on the boards.
Food + drink
Bubbles Restaurant, Pier Zero, Bastard Burger, Cooked soil for Italian dishes, Oak Barrel Irish Pub and a dining area in Gate 26 have good -looking cafes, bar and coffee bars. Water points are dotted along the terminal. Coffee with package service is about 4 € ($ 7.20) and sandwiches 6 €. My favorite is the Relove Cafe, which sells high -level vintage clothes and homemade products.
Retail therapy
In addition to the Vintage Clothing Cage, there are some interesting stores, including the compulsory Marimekko and Luhta Lifestyle store that sells all the forgotten walking equipment. Moomin Shop (Moomin Cafe) has the most cute toys and fascinating Ruohonjuuri Pharmacy exhibits a series of attractive skin care products from small, local manufacturers. If you need a haircut, there is a hairdresser salon on the terminal.
Time -time
I have a nine -hour accommodation at the airport and closer to 10 hours. Fortunately, I have access to Business Class Lounge, which is stylish and comfortable, although it lacks anywhere to reach out.
I occasionally do it on the bottom floor to look at the shops and stretch my legs. There is a walk to the end of the terminal. In a walk, I go to Gate 12, where I discovered a quiet space, which has a small library for books, mostly in the Finns, where people have happily falling asleep (if I had known before). There are other areas with benches, business and charging stations and halls that you can access for a fee. It is free for Wi-Fi. Space Hub is a special field of work like a space capsule. A children’s playground has a pet aid station for Gate 20 and Gate 21 for pets with jet sets.
Decision
I prefer a accommodation to most airports I visit here. There are very interesting corners for a small airport to be beautiful, efficient, well thought and discovered.
